English Powada Style Poem

Sound of Culture – The Soul of Music Instruments

Powada Poem by Gajanan L. Bhonde

1️⃣
Like the drumbeat calling warriors from sleep,
Our culture’s heart marches, steady and deep.
Each note a banner, high in the sky,
Telling the world, we will never die.

2️⃣
Like a conch that roars across the sea,
It speaks of the courage in you and me.
Every echo a sword in the hand,
Every rhythm a claim to the land.

3️⃣
Like the flute that whispers to the dawn,
Our soul’s first breath, pure and drawn.
It carries the tears, the laughter, the pride,
Our story flows on a river’s tide.

4️⃣
Like cymbals that clash in temple light,
We rise together, fearless in the fight.
Sound becomes the armor we wear.
A promise to protect all we share.

5️⃣
Like the string that sings to the moon,
We bind our fate in a timeless tune.
In every beat, our victories dwell,
Our music—the soul of our culture—will tell.

Analysis

This Powada poem uses simile (“like the drumbeat…”) and metaphor (“sound becomes the armor we wear”) to depict how musical instruments are not just artistic tools but living symbols of cultural identity, bravery, and triumph. Each stanza highlights a different instrument, associating it with an emotional or historical value—drums with awakening courage, conch with battle spirit, flute with emotional memory, cymbals with unity, and strings with timeless heritage. The tone is heroic yet soulful, blending martial energy with deep emotional resonance.

Summary

The poem celebrates the sound of culture as the eternal heartbeat of civilization. It shows how instruments are more than sound-makers; they are the voices of identity, courage, and victory. Whether in war, worship, or celebration, each note tells the story of a people, binding past, present, and future in one rhythm.
